Located on Northern Ireland's eastern coastline, Belfast is a large city with a population of more than 300,000 inhabitants. Central Belfast is based around the western bank of the River Lagan, with much of this district being dominated by the City Hall, which stands in Donegall Square.

Belfast Orientation: Layout and Directions



On the northeastern side of Belfast's Donegall Square you will find the city's historic Cathedral Quarter and the nearby Albert Memorial Clocktower, one of the city's most eye-catching landmarks. To the north of Donegall Square lies Royal Avenue and Donegall Place, both of which are known for their shopping centres and restaurants.

As you travel along the nearby Dublin Road you will reach a number of attractions, which include the Botanic Gardens, Queens University and the Golden Mile, while to the east, Chichester Street features a selection of top hotels and the Waterfront Hall.
